Privacy policy

Pollenio is a hay fever diary that keeps everything on your phone. The core is simple: your data stays on your device. No account, no cloud, no tracking, and we share nothing with third parties.

1. Who we are

Pollenio is developed by keus.nl (“we”). If you have a question about privacy, please get in touch through the contact form.

2. In short

• Everything you enter is stored locally on your device.
• We have no server and therefore never receive your health data.
• No account, no cloud sync, no ads, no analytics, no trackers.
• Nothing is shared with third parties — not even anonymised or aggregated, and not even if you were to give permission for it.
• The only exception to “no network traffic” is the pollen, weather and air-quality context from the weather service Open-Meteo — fetched with a coarsely rounded location and without any health data (see section 5).

3. Which data does the app process, and where is it kept?

Everything you log is kept exclusively locally on your device, in the app's protected private storage (a SQLite database). This covers:

• Your daily check-in: how your nose, eyes, airways and sleep were (on a 0 to 3 scale) and an optional note.
• Medication you add to your own list and log per day.
• The pollen levels (alder, birch, grass, mugwort, olive and ragweed), weather and air quality for the day of a check-in, fetched from Open-Meteo — see section 5.
• Your settings, such as the language, the appearance and the time of your daily reminder.

This data does not leave your device, except when you export it yourself (see section 7).

4. No account, no cloud, no tracking

Pollenio works entirely without an account or sign-in. There is no server of our own and no cloud storage. The app contains no analytics SDKs, no ad networks, no crash reporting with personal data and no trackers. We do not sell data and share nothing with third parties — not even in anonymised or aggregated form. Android's cloud backup is switched off for the app, so your diary is not copied to Google Drive either.

5. The only exception: pollen, weather and air quality from Open-Meteo

The point of Pollenio is to see your symptoms next to the pollen in the air. For that, the app fetches the pollen levels, the weather and the air quality near you from the weather service Open-Meteo. In doing so:

• your coordinates are sent rounded to 2 decimals (about 1 km accuracy), and the app only ever asks for a coarse location;
• no health data, no identification and no account go along with it — the request contains only the rounded coordinates, the requested variables and a time window;
• your location is stored nowhere — not on your device and not with us (we have no server).

The fetched context is kept locally with your check-in and does not leave your device. If you turn on pollen alerts (optional, off by default), the app additionally fetches the pollen forecast for the coming days in the same way. The alerts themselves are scheduled locally on your device.

The app asks for the location permission on the Today screen, with an explanation, and only once you choose to allow it. If you decline, Pollenio keeps working as a diary; only the pollen, weather and air-quality context is then missing. Processing by Open-Meteo is subject to their own terms and privacy policy. 6. Notifications

The daily reminder and the pollen alerts are optional and off by default. Both are scheduled locally on your device; no push service of ours is involved and nothing is sent to us. You can turn them off at any time in the app or in your device settings.

7. Exporting and sharing

You can export your diary yourself as a report (for example a PDF for your GP or allergist). That happens only on your initiative, and you choose who you share it with. From the moment you share something like that, the information leaves your device on your own initiative; what the receiving service (your email or messaging app, for example) does with it falls outside this policy.

8. Payments

Pollenio offers an optional Premium subscription (logging always stays free). Payment runs directly through your platform's store — Google Play Billing on Android, the App Store on iOS — and not through us. We do not receive or store your payment details; we have no account or server of our own. Whether you have Premium active is checked with the store and remembered locally on your device. You manage or cancel the subscription through your Google Play or App Store account.

9. Retention and deletion

Your data stays on your device for as long as you keep it. You change or clear individual days in the app. To erase everything, delete the app data (through your device settings) or the app itself — that removes the local database completely. Because we have no copy, there is nothing for us to retain or delete.

10. Security

Your data lives in the app's protected private storage on your own device. The best protection is therefore to secure your device itself with a PIN, password or biometrics.

11. Children

Pollenio is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect data from people under 16. Because all data stays local, nothing is sent to us in any case.

12. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data. With Pollenio you have that control directly: all data lives on your device and can be viewed, changed and deleted in the app. We hold no copy and therefore cannot view, export or erase anything on your behalf.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy, for example with new features. The date at the top shows the latest change. We announce important changes in the app or on this page.

14. Not a medical device

Pollenio is a diary for tracking your own pattern — not a medical device and not a diagnosis or treatment tool. Always consult a doctor with medical questions.
